12ish Bars of Christmas charity event closing in on $30K for Hope House

Once upon a time, Courtney Stoddard wanted to have a pub crawl in her hometown's downtown district. Nine years later, her little Christmas wish has grown into one of the metro's most popular events and has raised more than $100,000 for Hope House. This year, her goal was to add another $30,000 to that tally and she is oh-so-close. Listen in as she joins hosts Nick Parker and Liesl Hays to preview this Saturday's crawl and how you can help reach this goal supporting a vital local nonprofit.

Prepping for a holiday concert & setting up students for real world success

Musician, teacher and all-around good egg, Shawn Harrel joins the show (and brings along some students) talk about an upcoming jazz concert and the work his digital media students are doing in the community. In fact, Nick and Liesl didn't do anything for this show except talk. The episode was recorded at Summit Technology Academy by a team of Harrel's students. Harrel was joined on air by senior students Amya Morgan, Abby Oldham and Jacob Loesch. Student engineers for this episode were Hannah Jones and Alex King. Harrel and the Lee's Summit Jazz Orchestra will perform it's annual holiday concert at 5 p.m. Thursday, December 15 at Bridge Space in downtown Lee's Summit.

Santa Claus is coming to town

We missed our chance last year, but Santa returns to the Lee's Summit Town Hall podcast today for a visit with hosts Nick Parker and Liesl Hays. During the show, he talks about his favorite snacks, negotiating with the elves' union and favorite Christmas memories. And don't forget to listen for some great upcoming photo opportunities with the big man!

It’s time to play the music; it’s time to light the lights...

Ok, we're not meeting the Muppets on the Muppet Show tonight. But, we are talking about the official launch of the holiday season in Lee's Summit. Downtown Lee's Summit Main Street's Jenny Gale drops by the studio to preview this Friday's Mayor's Tree Lighting ceremony and next week's Small Business Saturday shopping event. Oh, and an important question is posed — Are boneless wings really wings?
