Whether we’re talking about development or our public school district, housing, economics and race are issues our community is currently addressing. But are we doing it in a helpful and effective way? These are difficult issues, but necessary. And as the City begins it’s strategic planning process, which is essentially a conversation about what we want our future community to be, Jason and Nick take pause to ponder how we can all do a better job of facilitating, and participating in, these conversations. Nick forces Jason to switch roles and be more of a guest than a co-host. On the docket for the City’s Planning Commission (in which Jason presides as the chair) this week is a public hearing on proposed amendments to the City’s comprehensive plan. The timing of this particular amendment and hearing has been sparked by what has been contentious public push-back on a proposed multifamily development near U.S. 50 Highway and Blackwell Road. On this week’s episode, the duo talks about the process as well as why, and how, residents and stakeholders can make their voices heard.
